Keolis North America has secured a new contract to continue operating and maintaining Virginia Railway Express (VRE) commuter rail services following a competitive procurement process.

Under the agreement, Keolis will operate 32 weekday trains across VRE’s two-line network, covering approximately 90 route miles in Central and Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC region. The scope includes train operations, maintenance of rolling stock, selected facilities maintenance, and lifecycle maintenance activities.

The fleet covered by the contract consists of 20 diesel locomotives and around 100 passenger cars. More than 100 Keolis employees will be assigned to VRE operations, including driving, equipment maintenance, and facilities-related roles.
